Pinocchio: An Original Musical by Bryan Muscat
Pinocchio is an original musical written by Bryan Muscat, with both lyrics and music created especially for this production. Staged as Lemonhead Productions’ fourth major production, the musical brought the beloved story of the wooden puppet to life through song, movement and youthful energy.
The production was performed entirely by a cast under the age of 16, making it a particularly memorable milestone for the company and for the young performers involved. Presented on one of the stages at the Granaries in Floriana, the show formed part of the festivities marking Malta’s Independence celebrations.
Inspired by the timeless tale of Geppetto and his wooden puppet, the musical follows Pinocchio’s journey from curiosity and temptation to courage, honesty and love. Through characters such as Geppetto, Jiminy, the Fairy, the Wolf, the Cat and Rufus, the story explores the importance of listening to one’s conscience, choosing right from wrong, and understanding the true meaning of family.
The musical was directed by Chrysander Agius and Bryan Muscat, assisted by Ethel Kawki, with choreography by Tricia Fabri. It was produced by Louise and Bryan Muscat, whose work helped shape the production into a lively and engaging theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
With its original music, youthful cast and strong moral heart, Pinocchio stands as an important chapter in Lemonhead Productions’ early journey — a celebration of Maltese theatre, young talent and the enduring magic of storytelling.
